Rides Out in Killarney, Ireland – Horse Riding Killarney National Park

Some hours horse riding in Ireland – Horse riding through the Killarney National park – Daily horse riding for one, two or three hours – Each ride is guided and all levels of experience catered

Visit Killarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry. It is an unforgettable experience to go horse riding through the Killarney National Park.

Open all year from 8am daily, Killarney Riding Stables offers Hacking, Trekking and Trail Riding into the ‘Killarney National Park’ for one, two and three hours. The trails go into the Knockreer Estate north of Lough Lein, (the largest of the three lakes in Killarney). Taking in stunning views of mountains, lake, flora and fauna. All groups are guided and all levels of experience catered for.

For clients who come un-equipped, we can provide riding hats and boots.

The Killarney Riding Stables is open all year and begins its rides daily at 8.30 am with the last ride of 1 hour at 3:00 pm

  • Open 7 days a week
  • English, French and German are spoken at the stables
  • Check in is 45 minutes in advance
  • Children must be 8 years old and upwards.
  • Riding Style is English and our guides are friendly and helpful, happy to assist those who are not accustomed to it
  • Times may vary slightly from winter to summer due to daylight hours
  • Cancellation Policy:
    • 0-48 hours prior to time reserved – 50% deposit non-refundable.
    • No show on the day – 50% deposit non-refundable.

Our trail ride covers a variety of terrain – country lanes, forests, mountain tracks, bogs and some of the beaches at Waterville and on the magnificent 6.4km (4 miles) stretch of golden sand at Rossbeigh. The Iveragh Peninsula stretches south-west from Killarney and has many places of historic and archaeological interest along the world renowned Ring of Kerry. The Trail Ride Package includes accommodation in Killarney, Glenbeigh and Waterville, luggage transfer to each accommodation, lunch each day, horse, tack and guide. The trail is led at all times by an experienced guide(s) and we take special care of nervous riders.

This unique opportunity has fallen to Emily Vial from Donegal. At just 21 she has spent most of her life working with horses, she has just completed a degree in Equine Science and is determined to realise her dream of building a successful business based on her passion. Over the course of her time at Killarney Riding Stables Donie and his family will challenge her constantly to see if she has what it takes to make it in their line of business. Can Emily look after such a large number of horses, deal with customers of all skill levels and nationalities, manage ride-outs through the national park and take command of a group on a trail ride around the ring of Kerry?

Donie O’Sullivan the owner of Killarney Riding Stables in Co. Kerry. With just two horses, Donie O’Sullivan established Killarney Riding Stables, in Co Kerry in the 1960s. Today his stables are home to over 130 horses and his business caters to thousands of visitors from all over the world. Some come for a few hours to ride out in the stunning surrounds of the Killarney National Park and some come to spend up to seven days trail riding around Kerry.
